Great pub with plenty of real ale, a large garden and car park, and a small but well cooked and presented menu. Staff friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, a note on the door says they are shutting at the end of May.

I was visiting friends in Deeping St James and I wanted some little dinner hangout, thanks to Google, I found this gem. It is a small family style restaurant/ pub; I think it is also family owned. I didn’t ask so not sure but I did see a sign that it has been opened since the 1600s . The atmosphere is rich with culture and this took my breathe away. Staff was friendly and smiled. Place was just okay on a Tuesday night; not empty yet not over crowded: the perfect noise level for conversation. The food tasted good. Again the atmosphere got my heart and I really loved this place.

We had a family Xmas meal in the garden room which is a tradition for us, yesterday evening. The room was decorated beautifully and it was kept lovely and Warm, there were crackers on the tables and Xmas music playing. Abigail made sure everything was spot on and she succeeded The food was lovely and the service excellent. Will definitely be coming back during the new year and again next Xmas

We chose the Goat for my Dad’s wake. Great service by Richard and good friendly helpful staff. The buffet we chose was just right and everyone has said what a nice relaxing place to be, the open fires blazing away were an added bonus. Thank you so much.
